Sunday services

We had a great day on Sunday. Our friend, Jana was in the services with us, which is always a blessing. It was good to see Jacob in services again this week. Please pray for us as we prepare for our Christmas serve this week. We desire to honor the Lord with our music, words and actions.

Saturday morning was our Christmas breakfast in English for our English students. Please pray for their salvation. They have all heard the gospel and need to respond.

The Czech Sunday school class will earn certificates this week for quoting memory verses. They all did a wonderful job memorizing God's Word. Hats off to James and David for learning their verses in English and Czech.

I am looking forward to the Ladies' Christmas tea this week. We have a busy schedule with visits and gift giving, but it is the time of the year when the Czech people are the most open to the gospel message.

Lord continues to bless

Illness and personal business kept many out of Sunday's services, but the Lord is always faithful and blessed us with two first time visitors.

On Wednesday evening, we met with a young lady named Martina. Please pray for her salvation and personal issues that she must work through in her life.

Josef Tuma and Alan Wood are both still in need of prayer for recovery from major surgeries. Josef had cancer surgery and Alan Wood had a section of his lung removed. Josef has a salvation testimony and we continue to witness to Alan.

Thanksgiving

That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all thy wondrous works.
Psalm 26:7

On Sunday, we had 3 first time visitors with a total of 20 for Sunday school, church service and for our Thanksgiving dinner. We had such a wonderful day! Praise the Lord for His grace, His provision and the working of His spirit in the hearts of the Czech people.

Please pray for Josef Toma, who is now home after cancer surgery and for Alan Wood, who is still in the hospital after having a section of his lung removed. Alan was moved from intensive care into his own room, so Jeff was able to visit him on Frday. Alan told Jeff that this made him think of his eternity. We have been witnessing to Alan and his wife, Hana for many years.

We are also very grateful for another supporting church that voted to take us on this week. What a blessing, our cup is overflowing with the LORD'S GOODNESS.

The House of the Lord

I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord. Psalm 122:1

We had a great day on Sunday. Our attendance has been around 14 - 15 people. Our living room is getting quite full. Be in prayer as we seek the Lord's wisdom for space to rent in Brno. We asked again this Sunday for everyone to keep their eyes open to where the Lord would have us.

The boys are enjoying English Sunday school. We have been teaching character qualities and what the Bible has to say about them. Czech Sunday school is always a great time with music, scripture memory and Bible lessons. On Sunday, we looked into the Israelites' victory over Jericho. The life of Paul was taught in our Czech service in the morning and also in our English service that evening.

Please continue to pray as the Lord opens many opportunities for us to share the gospel with our English students during their lessons.

Visitors

Last week we were blessed by Svetlana, a first time visitor, but this week the blessing just got better when Svetlana returned and brought a friend with her. Amen and Amen. Please pray they will listen carefully to the message of salvation. As the holiday season begins here, pray that we will have the wisdom needed to get the Czechs' attention on the Lord Jesus Christ - the true meaning of Christmas.

Faithfulness in prayer

Thank you for your prayers for the Czech people. Betty was able to stay in the nursery again this week. This is truely a blessing and answer to prayer. Pray for salvation for those attending faithfully but have not trusted. They have heard the message of salvation many times and in many ways - time to act.

Another blessing and answer to prayer: The start of a children's library. Thanks to an offering from some young people in one of our faithful supporting churches, we were able to purchase books. The books arrived this week. Now for a book shelf.

Sunday blessings

This Sunday was one of our highest number in attendence. It was good to see Jacob, Lenka and Betty back with us. They have missed a few Sundays for various reasons. Betty was able to stay in the nursery suring services, which is a blessing in itself. Jacob (Betty's dad)was able to listen to a message on repeatance and his need for salvation without any destractions. Lucie was back this week playing the piano. She is a 16 year old young lady who needs to be saved. Please pray for her as she continues to attend both Sunday school and worship services. We have made a few new contacts through teaching English - please pray for visitors.

Is repentence just for the lost?

Jeff preached today on the Lamb of God, but he also had a message for those who have trusted the Lord as Savior. Is respentence just for the lost? Please remember to pray for the work here in Brno. Salvation of these dear people is just the beginning. As we continue to disciple, we see our great need for wisdom. We are so grateful for the opportunities to minister to these families and are encourged to see the Lord at work in their lives.

Visitors

Sunday was a very encouraging day with two visitors and those who attend faithfully. We were still missing a few because of illnesses, but for the most part everyone is doing better. It was nice to hear the piano again this Sunday. Lucie came to both services again this week and played the piano for church services. I think we sound much better with the music.

All the boys are doing a great job with the memory verses. We are working on verses about the Word of God. Last weeks lesson was about the 10 commandments.

Thank you for your prayers and support.

The Lord is good

We had a good day. The Lord blessed in so many ways. The children were ready with the verse that they had memorized. Our boys had to quote the verse in both, English and Czech. Each child was rewarded for their work. The Lord also blessed us with a piano player. Her name is Lucie. Lucie is one of our English students, who plays the piano very well. We asked her if she would like to play for our services and she said "Yes." Please pray for her salvation.

coughs, sniffles and sneezes

It is too early in the season to be suffering from a cold virus, but it seemed to be the theme of Sunday's service. Coughing, sneezing and sniffling were all heard above the music. Also several were unable to be in services. Please pray for the health of our family and the Czech families. We need this to pass quickly - we have a long winter ahead of us. Thanks

In Sunday school we added scripture memory. The children seemed to be excited and eager to learn, or maybe it was the idea of a small reward that encourage them the most.

Faithfulness

Praise the Lord for the faithfulness of the members and also for those who are not saved, but faithfully come to hear the Word of God and the salvation message being proclaimed.

This Sunday morning, we had just finished our Sunday school music when the door bell rang. It was Mirek standing at the door. He was quite up set with himself for being late. He took a moment to catch his breath after the long, quick walk from the bus stop in the square, took off his shoes and quickly joined us. How many of you rely on the public bus system to get to Sunday school and church services? Mirek and his wife, Milada, faithfully attend services, but have not trusted the Lord for salvation. Please remember to pray for them. And yes, they take three buses just to get here on Sunday mornings. Praise God.

Blessings

Thank you Lord for a great day. The children enjoyed Sunday school as we shared the story of Pharaoh, Moses and the plagues. We covered 9 of them leaving the 10th plague until next week. We tried to teach the song C H R I S T I A N. We had so much fun singing a new song in English.

A merry heart doesth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.
Proverbs 17:22

We will be having another baptisim. Last week Lenka came to us and said that she had trusted the Lord as her personal savior. Also after the morning services the Sunday before last, Alena bowed her head and asked the Lord to save her. Amen

Back to School Sunday

On Sunday we had 14 in the services. We gave each child a bag of goodies as an encouragment as they head back to school. It was so good to have everyone back it services. Lenka was very attentive in the service, please pray for her salvation. Everyone had a great time at our "American cookout". We had Mr. and Mrs. Tuma and Katka and her daughters also join us for the afternoon. Continue to pray as we reach out to these families as they go through some very difficult times.

Praise the Lord for His goodness

Sunday, our attenance was back up as holiday time comes to an end for the summer season. Members and visitors alike were encouraged by the testimony given in services by Jan as he shared how the Lord had provided extra work to meet a financial need.

Trusting in God's lovingkindness

Psalm 36:7 How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.

Our attendance still remains low, but nothing out of the norm for this time of the year. We are studying about the life of Moses in the children's Sunday school class. Our boys enjoy hearing the stories in Czech. Praise God His WORD is the same in all languages.

We found out this week that Josef, a Czech Christian friend of ours, has prostate cancer. Some of you might recongnize the name. He did most of our printing when we first came to Brno. He is now working for another company and no longer prints in his shop. Please pray for him. He will be going into the hospital in September.

And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; Luke 18:1
Attendance was low on Sunday with vacations and out-of-town visitors. Please continue to pray for the salvation of those mentioned- Mirek, Milada, Lenka, Jacob and Jaroslav.

We had a great service on Sunday as well as our baptismal service followed by a cookout. Both people gave a clear testimony of the Lord saving them by his grace before I baptised them. Praise the Lord for out first two members of Bible Baptist Church of Brno. We are expecting great things from the Lord and attemping great things for Him.

Sunday Service

Sunday's attendance was low. The summer months are always difficult. Please remember to pray for those who have been coming to services that they will continue coming through the summer months. We are looking forward to our baptism service scheduled for July 25, 2010.

Anna saved

Praise the Lord for another precious soul saved! Anna approached me to ask about baptism and discipleship training. I was slightly surprised as she had not been saved the last time we had spoken. I told her that we needed to talk more about her need for salvation first. She began telling me that she was not able to sleep during the night and the Lord dealt with her until she cried out to Him to save her. Praise the Lord we will have a double baptism after Debra returns from the states. Anna and her husband, Jon, who I have been discipling for the past 8 months, will both be baptized. Please continue to pray for the others attending services who are still in need of the Lord's saving grace also pray for Jon and Anna's spiritual growth and their testimony before others.

Grandpa again

Getting information about the birth of our grand-daughter was priority for the ladies who attend services. They have been so excited waiting for the news from the states. Debra arrived in Houghton, MI after a very long flight. A few were missing from service today, but the Lord continues to give wisdom in reaching the hearts of the Czech people.

Father's Day services

Our Czech services were low in attendance this week with illness and out-of-town visitors. Please continue to pray for the Czech people - their need for the savior. The Lord continues to bless even when the devil tries to discourage. We presented the Czech fathers with a small notepad and pen for Father's Day. We had a special dinner for Jeff and the boys made cards for him. The village that Jon and Anicka live in was having one of their many celebrations and their son Mickey was in a play called "The Donut Man, a Czech version of "The Gingerbread Man". He was the main star "the donut man". We were invited by Jon and Anicka to join them. We had a great visit and a relaxing afternoon.

Hearing the Word of the Lord

Today we hold our services in Lenka's and Jacob's new apartment. Mirek and Jacob were both able to be with us today. We had hoped for visitors, but we continue to praise the Lord for those who have been coming to hear the Word of God. Continue to pray for their salvation. Our baptism service is scheduled for July. The temperatures have been in the mid 90's, which are very hot for this time of the year. Praise the Lord the temperature was lower today.

The Lord's day

We had a great service this Sunday. Unfortunately Jacob and Mirek were not able to be with us. Jacob is trying to get his family moved into a new apartment and Mirek was not able to get the day off from work. Please pray for these men. The devil knows which lesson they should miss. All the children are back in Sunday school. Mickey did fine during the operation and Matyash has only a few spots remaining from chicken pox. The sun is finally shining here putting smiles upon our faces, especially James and David.

Sunday, May 23, 2010

It is good to be in the house of the Lord.

May 22, 2010 We had a great day. It was good to see Anichka and Matyash back in our services. They have been out for two week after Matyash was infected with chicken pox. Also Jan was back today. His job had him in South Czech for the week. Jacob was unable to attended services today. He has been coming faithfully since the middle of April. We received the joy of meeting Alena's granddaughter,Suzanne, who lives in Praha. We are still having rain and parts of the country are flooding. We are praying for Mickey, he will be going into surgery on Tuesday to remove his tonsils and adenoids.

God's great blessings

The Lord continues to richly bless our puny efforts. The couple standing to the left of Debra
has begun to faithfully attend our services. I have mentioned the young lady for prayer. Her
name is Lenka and her husband, who is standing behind her is Jakub. Lenka is the daughter of
Alena, who is standing behind David. As we sat with Lenka and walked through the gospel
message she stopped me to say. “I think it will be a long road to salvation for me.” When I
asked her why she told me that she didn’t understand how God could love her so much that
He would die for her. She doubted whether or not she would be willing to die for her own
child. She admitted that it would take time to be willing to accept that kind of love. I used that
as a launching point for a series of messages about love. Remember when the Lord asked
Peter if he loved him? (Jn 21:15-17) Similar to Greek, the Czech language also has two verbs
translated as “love” in English. One “to be fond of” and the second to describe “a deep
abiding love”. This second and stronger form is simply not used. One spouse will say to the
other “I’m fond of you”. Because there is not an understanding of what love is, it is very
difficult for them to accept the love the Lord has for them. We have been doing what we can
to express the love of the Lord for them (Rom 5:5) Not only have Lenka and Jakub began
attending but Mirek, Milada’s husband, has also become faithful in his attendance, though yet
unsaved. Pray for these precious people to receive God’s unspeakable gift of salvation.
